Fencing FAQs

What's the difference between privacy and shadow-box fences?

A privacy fence has boards set tight side by side for full screening. A shadow-box fence alternates boards on each side of the rails, so it looks finished from both sides and wind passes through the gaps.

Can you repair part of a fence instead of replacing all of it?

Often, yes. If the posts are sound, damaged boards or panels can usually be replaced on their own. If posts are snapped or loose in the ground, we'll tell you what we'd recommend and why.

Do I need exact measurements?

No. A rough length in feet, or a count of the posts, is enough to start. We confirm the measurements before the estimate is final.

Do I need HOA approval?

Some neighborhoods and HOAs have rules about fence height, style and placement, and some projects need a permit. If you have an HOA, check with them, and we'll flag anything we know of when we write the estimate.
